Loyalty Programs Overview

A loyalty program is an excellent way to increase sales through return customers. It is also referred to as a customer rewards program. Simply put, loyalty programs will give your customers incentives, such as extra discounts or free products and services, for their continued business at your establishment. Courses that wish to start a loyalty program will find the settings in POSExpress and will need to visit areas under Sales, Inventory and Customers during the setup.

Once set up, the loyalty program will automatically track your customers’ sales and their earned loyalty points, as well as send alerts during sales transactions to remind customers to redeem their loyalty points for rewards.

Basic Steps for Loyalty Program Set Up

In general, you need to complete five main steps in POSExpress before you can roll out your loyalty program to customers.

  1. Create the program's structure. Choose one of the available loyalty program structures, available under Tools > Options > Loyalty Options. Name the program, customize your points and thresholds, as well as levels if desired.
  2. Set the program's details. Enter the standard settings, such as when the program begins.
  3. Choose the point-earning items under Sales. Select which Sales Categories will allow customer's to earn loyalty points for their purchase and mark these in the system.
  4. Choose the redemption items under Inventory. Select which Inventory items will be available for customer's to redeem with their loyalty points and mark them in the system.
  5. Enroll your customers. Decide whether you will enter all customers or enter them individually and confirm the customer accounts are enrolled.

Tip: It will be important that your employees are informed about your loyalty program and trained to identify the customer in the system before running a sale. This will ensure that enrolled customers will be able to receive loyalty points for their purchases. Walk-in golfers and other sales finalized under “A Cash Account” will not earn loyalty points.
